Digital LabHub Survey: “Pain Points” in Laboratory Digitalization

Digitalization is permanently transforming the laboratory landscape—creating new opportunities while also confronting labs with substantial challenges. To gain a better understanding of these challenges, the Digital LabHub of the QI-Digital initiative, supported by the Deutschen Verband unabhängiger Prüflaboratorien (VUP), the Industrieverband Spectaris, and the Stiftung für Pathobiochemie und Molekulare Diagnostik (SPMD), is conducting a nationwide survey.

The survey will run from 23 March to 30 April 2026.

The aim of the survey is to identify typical “pain points” in laboratory digitalization and to develop practical, hands-on tools and support services to help overcome these barriers. The primary target group is laboratory staff—those who, through daily hands-on experience, know which processes take up too much time, which workflows urgently need improvement, or which procedures are simply too cumbersome.

Participation in the survey is anonymous. Optionally providing an email address at the end of the survey enables access to the survey results and entry into a prize draw for give-aways. Based on the insights gathered, economically viable solution approaches will be derived. To this end, the relevant associations and initiatives are working together.
