ESCMID Global 2026 in Munich (17–21 April 2026) – Highlights

At the internationally oriented ESCMID Global 2026 hosted at Messe München, scientific exchange focused on key challenges in infectious disease diagnostics—ranging from antimicrobial resistance and emerging pathogens to diagnostic innovation.

We engaged in numerous discussions with existing customers and established new contacts. Across these conversations, a clear emphasis emerged on molecular pathogen detection, complemented by topics such as serological antibody testing, pathogen typing, and additional diagnostic applications.

Several EQA schemes and new formats of the RfB were presented at the exhibition booth, including the Meningitis/Encephalitis Panel (covering bacterial, viral, and fungal pathogens), the newly restructured HPV EQA scheme with typing, the Carbapenemase Detection EQA scheme, and the expanded BakNAT3 Panel (STD).

The exchange with existing customers and interested parties also provided valuable professional input for the further development of future EQA schemes.
