The German Medical Association (BÄK) specifies the formal requirements for external quality assurance in the RiLi-BÄK, but does not review any laboratory services itself.
This task is performed by EQA-Scheme providers accredited on the basis of the RiliBÄK, such as the Reference Institute for Bioanalytics (RfB), which must also be listed with the German Medical Association for the respective area.
RfB carries out EQA-Schemes that fulfil all the requirements of the RiLi-BÄK.
The results serve as proof of the legally prescribed quality assurance and are recognised by the BÄK and the state medical associations.
The two institutions complement each other perfectly:
The BÄK creates the legal framework, the RfB provides the scientific and methodological implementation.
