Is RfB also suitable for laboratories outside Europe?

Yes, definitely. RfB has participants in EQA-Schemes in over 50 countries and is established worldwide as a reference provider for external quality assurance and EQA-Schemes in laboratory medicine. By expanding its activities in the international field, the Foundation for Pathobiochemistry and Molecular Diagnostics, which is the sponsor of the RfB, is also fulfilling one of the foundation’s purposes, in which the RfB also sees quality assurance as a global task and thus establishes services and added value for external quality assurance globally for those in laboratory medicine.

RfB supports laboratories, institutions and national EQA-Scheme programmes in Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East:

  • internationally comparable, reference-based EQA-Schemes
  • Support for harmonisation with international standards and best practice approaches
  • Support for laboratories in various phases of quality development
  • Promotion of long-term comparability of results across countries and regions
  • Scientific reference partnerships for national and regional quality initiatives

Thanks to decades of experience in the field of external quality assurance with more than 820 analytes from almost all areas of laboratory diagnostics, e.g. in the context of clinical chemistry (e.g. glucose, creatinine, sodium, potassium, calcium), haematology (e.g. haemoglobin, haematocrit, erythrocyte, platelet count), coagulation diagnostics (e.g. haemoglobin, haematocrit, erythrocyte and platelet count), coagulation diagnostics (e.g. INR, aPTT), immunology and serology (e.g. hepatitis serologies, HIV, blood groups), hormone and tumour marker analysis and special analyses (e.g. trace elements, TDM – therapeutic drug monitoring).

RfB actively contributes to the global harmonisation of laboratory diagnostics – regardless of geographical location.
