The Foundation for Pathobiochemistry and Molecular Diagnostics (SPMD) is a non-profit foundation of the German Society for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (DGKL).
It was founded to promote scientific research, education and quality in the fields of pathobiochemistry and molecular diagnostics.
Tasks and goals
The foundation supports:
- Research projects on molecular and biochemical disease mechanisms
- Development of modern diagnostic methods
- scientific training and the next generation of laboratory medicine specialists
- Initiatives for standardisation and quality assurance in diagnostics and research
In this way, the foundation makes a significant contribution to transferring findings from basic biomedical research into clinical application.
